Welcome to ANEA, the Autism Network of East Africa! ANEA was formed to be a community resource. A place for families, friends and professionals to build relationships and network across the East African community. Due to the paucity of services available, it only made sense to widen the scope. Although there is great breadth and depth of diversity in the region, there are also many ties that bind. With improved technology, shared language, borders and the relative ease of travel within our neighbor nations, why not pull together?

We believe a shift to “regional” and macro thinking will greatly enhance support for those who need it most. It is our hope that through ANEA, many of the wonderful, dedicated individuals, groups and organizations who work tirelessly to care for those with ASD can connect, collaborate, consult, and create a bigger and broader range of service options. ANEA is not intended to be a direct service provider, but rather a hub for those that do so. The mission is to create a circle, a network, to bring us closer, build and strengthen bridges, share knowledge and create community connections that will endure.

Understanding the immense task of identifying organizations like clinics, schools, advocacy and support groups on a multi-national level would challenging, we set off on our journey. Through endless hours of Google searches, trying to identify as many resources as possible, we have finally developed an inaugural directory to be shared. It is only a beginning. We are certain that it contains errors, out of date information, and is incomplete. That’s okay, at least the journey has started. We welcome any and all to provide feedback, correct our errors and give us new or updated information. We will gladly make the necessary changes.
